It all started in 2010

About Team Ario

A year after Ario was diagnosed and treated for his tumor, he rode with his father in the Granite State Quest charity bike ride to raise funds for the MGH Hematology/Oncology department as a first step to find a cure for pediatric cancer. To date, with various activities, Team Ario has raised more than $350K. Team Ario and its members participate in the Boston Marathon, Granite State Quest Ride, and also swim laps in the annual Swim Across America event. Please contact us if you like to join us.

Ario is a recepient of the MGH 100

Every year MGH receives a list of hundreds of candidates to be rewarded the MGH 100 recognition, which is awarded to those who have contributed to the fight against cancer. In 2011 Ario was awarded and recognized, as he became the first child patient mentor to other young cancer patients, teaching them how to cope with radiation therapy with the need of sedation. With this, Ario started a trend that has seen over 70 other young patients follow his path in becoming mentor to other children.

Performed by Lorrie Kubicek, her team of Musical Therapists at MGH, along with Ario and Caden.

Both Ario and Caden were inspired by Lorrie to play music which helped them to ease through therapy.
